Random Thoughts

I have no idea what I am going to say here but I just want to type (yeah, I'm weird), so we'll see what interesting (or incredibly boring) things I have to say. First of all, I am graduating from the University of Utah tomorrow! Well, the commencement ceremony is tomorrow, but I am not going to go, much to the dismay of Natalie, who says that I will regret it later on (I am sure many of you share the same opinion). The last couple of graduations I've attended have convinced me that they might be the most boring things on the planet, next to a grandmother's old photo album (just kidding Grandma(s), I love old photo albums!). I have a softball game to play in and a Jazz game to watch that night anyways. Is there any question what takes precedence here? Softball and Jazz, or graduation? Didn't think so. The only thing that I will be sad to miss is the chance to hear Mario Capecchi, the guy from the U of U who won the Nobel Prize in 2007, speak. (Can anyone remember the last time someone from BYU won a nobel prize? I thought not!) If you have not heard his life story check it out on Wikipedia. Pretty amazing.

Anyways, I am glad to have my undergraduate work over with and am excited to start Med School at the U in August. But I am even more stoked for this summer, which I am calling "The Summer of Dave (and Natalie too, I guess. :))". I might have ripped that off from a Seinfeld episode, but what else is new. We got some sweet vacations planned to Lake Powell, Bear Lake, Newport Beach, and Alaska (I really hope I don't get mauled by a bear), so look forward to pictures from those trips.

I have saved the most important thing for last. Natalie and I are celebrating our two-year wedding anniversary this Sunday. I won't say too much about that here, (I am not one for public mushyness) but these two years have been the best of my life. Natalie is one of a kind. She's spiritual, sweet, beautiful, loving, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Holy crap I've married a scout! (For those of you that don’t know and think I am crazy, the last 12 traits are from the Scout Law. That was a lame attempt to be funny.)

But seriously, she has so many great qualities I could be on here for hours talking about them. I have never met anybody as sweet as Natalie. She is one of those rare people who is just nice to everybody (except bad tippers at the Jasmine). I have never met a person that dislikes Natalie, which is an amazing thing. I always laugh at how forgiving she is. It has become a pretty fun game for me to see how fast I can get her to forgive me when I say or do something stupid (happens more often than one would think). I’ve pretty much got it down to a science. Pouty face, sad eyes, and a sincere I love you and I’m forgiven! She’s also a spiritual giant and is going to be a perfect mother (eventually), which are two of the most important qualities I can think of. I cherish every moment I spend with her and am thrilled I was able to marry my best friend. It’s fun to be married to a person that you just click with. It’s hard to explain but you can tell we were just meant for each other. Sorry, enough of my gushing here. In sum, I’ve never met anybody like Natalie before (I mean that in a good way) and I love her to death. Happy Anniversary Baby!

I just don't think I can believe all that nice stuff you said after the argument of the Rummi Kub rules. But seriously, we love hanging out with you guys. Thanks for putting up with us!

What a great post, Dave (or should I say "BAVE"- our niece Ellie's nickname that's a combo of Dave & Babe). Nats is pretty great and we kinda like you too. You've been a great addition to our family. We Millers do like to win at RummiKub, or any game, for that matter. Happy anniversary, you 2. It just keeps getting better;-)
