This week Hailey had her first (and hopefully last) stay at Primary Children's Hospital with Rotavirus (or a similar gastrointestinal virus) ... It all started Tuesday morning. We were at the Zoo with the MSA playgroup and she was just not herself. She was slow and really quiet and she wouldn't eat anything. Later that night she started throwing up. Wednesday it got even worse. She was seriously lethargic and couldn't keep anything down. I thought it may just be a 24 hour bug that would pass but that night she literally threw up (or dry heaved) every 15-20 minutes so the next morning we headed to her Pediatrician. After briefly looking her over her Doctor told us that we needed to get her up to the hospital because she was severely dehydrated. He called ahead and when we got to the ER they started an IV of fluids and took some blood for tests. It was amazing the difference getting some fluid in her made. Ten minutes into her first IV bag and she really started to perk up. We were very optimistic at that point but it didn't last long and soon she was back to being lethargic and vomiting so they kept her over night. Luckily Dave wasn't on call that night so he was able to sleep at the hospital with her. It broke my heart leaving her but Nora needed me at home. The next morning Hailey had made slight improvement and was starting to eat and drink a little so they let us take her home that afternoon. She is home and doing well. Still not 100% but a million times better than she was. I can not put into words how heart breaking it was to see her just laying there with a blank stare on her face. That is not my Hailey girl! She was such a trooper through it all... didn't cry when they put in the IV, always said please and thank you to the nurses, cooperated well with the Doctors and was pretty much as sweet as can be considering the circumstances. When we were leaving to go home she turned to the nurses station, waved and said "you're welcome" with a big smile on her face (pretty sure she meant thank you ha ha) For now we are just glad she's ok and are keeping our fingers crossed that little Nora doesn't get it as well. Special thanks to my Mom for watching Nora for me so I could be at the hospital as much as possible.
I was so happy to finally see this smile!

Oh my goodness that is so SAD! Poor little Hailey, I hope you NEVER have to go through that again! Glad she was such a trooper and is now doing better!
Poor little girl and poor mama, too! There is nothing worse then watching your little one suffer and not be able to do anything about it. I'm glad she's on the mend.
Oh my gosh, that breaks my heart. I'm so sorry you all had to go through that. I agree with Rach - there is NOTHING worse than seeing your little ones sick and miserable. I'm so glad she is better now!
