Eye Harvesting
So a few months ago Dave started volunteering at the Utah Eye Bank harvesting eyes. For those of you who don't know what that entails he takes eyes out of people who have died. Totally creepy right?!?!? I still can't believe he does it, but I had to laugh today when I was driving home from work and got a text from Dave saying "Hey babe I am headed to Ogden to cut eyes out of dead people. Don't worry about making dinner. I'll be home late." I love how he mentions cutting out eyes as nonchalantly as if he were telling me he was going to the gym or something. All I can say I am glad he is the one in Med school cause I don't have the stomach for that kind of stuff! I can't even be in the same room as a dead person let alone remove their eyes. It completely freaks me out! Anyone else?

I am with you. I start feeling sick when Jackson starts talking about something as simple as shots. The eyes would send me over the edge...
I hear ya! Matt cant even tell me what he does in people's mouths at the school because I just start to gag! I dont know how they do it!
in my anatomy classes at byu, the eyes were the absolute thing that would push me over the edge with the cadavers...yuck. i'm with you. good thing it's our hubbies in med school and not us!
eeewwww!!! that's all i can say. eeewww!!!
I definitely know about this job. I work on a floor where we often have patients die and some of them donate their eyes. We often help the eye harvesters. It's cool, but definitely crazy. I hear they make pretty good money doing it. If Dave ever comes down to UVRMC at night maybe I'll see him.
