No use crying...or is there?

Disclaimer for this post...if you are offended by someone talking about breastfeeding or breast milk stop reading this. I am pretty open about it but I know some people are not so...

Now that I am back at work part-time I have been pumping milk to leave with whoever is watching Hailey. The other night I spent 40 minutes pumping and when I went to put the lid on the bottle I accidentally knocked it over. I looked at the pile of milk on our kitchen floor and immediately burst into tears. Whoever invented the saying "there's no use crying over spilled milk" must never have had to pump milk for a baby!!! Please tell me someone else out there has done the same thing so I don't feel so foolish!I have definitely learned my lesson though. I now carry the bottles full of milk as carefully as I do my own child! They are priceless!

Yep, I've done it, Natalie! On the couch, too. I was just going to be gone for a dentist appt., but I was poor Charlotte would starve. (This is Brian Stagg's wife, btw, Found your blog from Allie Kogelschatz's... Hailey is absolutely gorgeous. Congrats to you and Dave.)

That is so sad! I will be super careful after hearing this story. I think you had good reason to cry.

I believe that a nursing mother's pumped milk is more valuable than gold. It takes a lot of time and effort to continue nursing when you're working, even just part-time, but it's so worth it.

That is too funny! I would have done the same thing.

The other day I tried to hop in the shower and by the time I got out Emme was screaming. I threw on some garments and my last clean nursing bra, and then picked her up. She calmed down for a second, and then puked warm spitup all down my chest and stomach. I just sat down on the bed and cried, too. :) The joys of motherhood!

Oh I did that once and I just sat there in shock because it wasn't like I could tell my body to just make more luckily I had some frozen but I cried too.

Cry as much as you want over that! Emma knocked mine over on accident one time.. and I wanted to run and scream! It is hard work to pump!

I totally feel your pain...I couldn't produce much if any breast milk and when I did it was like 2 ounces in those little bottles and One day I knocked one on the floor and I think I cried for 3 hours about it. Good luck!!

Oh Natalie! I had the same thing happen when I was nursing. Its called Liquid Gold for a reason!

I have done the same thing also! Fortunately I have always had a good frozen stockpile because I seem to produce so much milk. But, that doesn't belittle the fact I was so sad/mad that it happened and that it is just so depressing to part with milk that just took you a while to pump. It's not like you can produce more on demand. So sorry and I feel your pain/heartache!

Oh man, that sucks! I haven't done that but I know how annoying it is to pump and after all that work, it's on the floor. Ohh..
