Diabetes update
I have had a lot of people ask me what has happened with my Diabetes so I thought I would fill you all in. The diabetes didn't go away right after I had Hailey like it does with most Gestational cases. We waited a couple months to see if it would go away. I went in last week for some tests and it turns out I am going to be diabetic long term. For those of you not familiar with the disease there are 2 types... Basically type 1 is when your body stops making insulin all together so you are dependent on insulin shots. With type 2 your body still makes insulin but cannot use it sufficiently. Technically right now I am type 2 because my body is still producing insulin but very little. My Doctor thinks with how low my insulin production is right now that I am in the pre-curser stages of type 1 and that my body will probably stop producing insulin all together in the next few years. I think deep down I knew that this was going to be the diagnosis but it was still hard to hear. There are many worse diseases that I could have so I am trying to stay optimistic. I have seen two of my sisters live healthy, happy lives with type 1 for basically all of their lives. I know this is just a trial I am meant to go through. I am so lucky to have so many supportive people around me!
