Last month we went to the Toledo Zoo with our friends Allie and Danielle (their husbands are both residents as well) It is about an hour drive but it was worth it. We will definitely be going back.
Hippos! I don't know why but I was very excited that they had Hippos. The Zoo in Utah got rid of theirs years ago so it was fun getting to see some again.
